AstraZeneca vaccine: Why are some countries suspending the use of AstraZeneca vaccine ?

Reports have shown that some people who’ve taken the AstraZeneca vaccine had developed blood clots. Thus, a number of  countries have temporarily suspended the use of this vaccine knowing that there are no proves that the vaccine was responsible for that. The first country that halted the use of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine was Denmark after discovering blood clots in people who took it. One participant has developed several blood clots upon receiving the first shot then died after 10 days.  Shortly afterwards, Bulgaria, Norway, Thailand, Congo, and Island have also suspended the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine .  Norwegian authorities declared that four of its citizens, who were the under age of 50, resulted in an unusual low number of blood platelets after receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine. Although breastfeeding women were excluded from the initial clinical trials on the Covid-19 vaccine, but still experts recommend that they receive the vaccine. Can pregnant women take the Covid-19 vaccine?

There are still not enough data and research whether the coronavirus vaccines are safe for pregnant women or not. This is because Covid -19 vaccines have been granted an emergency use authorization before making clinical trials on pregnant women.  Pregnant women were not included in the initial clinical trials; but now the trials on both pregnant and breastfeeding women are ongoing. However, we can mention a small study published on the 25th of March in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology.  The study found that the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines are safe and effective during pregnancy. It also states that the vaccines may provide protection for the babies. This small study that included 131 participants showed that the pregnant women who got the COVID-19 vaccine produced similar antibody levels like others who were not pregnant.
